The second option was to do a completed overhaul of the pool infrastructure and surrounding grounds. This would entail significant groundwork, full concrete and piping replacement and new pool building. As a council, we considered all three options, but based on feasibility and operational costs, Option number two was selected. The application was submitted in October of and we just received notification on July 13, that our application was denied.

I have called our MHA, Brian Warr to discuss this decision but to date, have not been able to reach him. I would like to advise our residents that the Town certainly recognizes the significance of a pool to this peninsula and we are making every effort we can to ensure it is replaced.

We will be making another application to government for funding once we are permitted to do so and, in the meantime, we are actively seeking other funding options. This pool is a regional facility used by residents of the Baie Verte Peninsula and we should pull together to see it replaced. Unfortunately, to date, this has been our fight alone. I, as the Mayor of Baie Verte, would like to encourage all residents on this peninsula to lobby government for their support so we can replace this important recreational facility.
