How do sorel caribou boots fit

Sorel Boots Size Chart Sorel is one of those fantastic companies providing tuned-in advice for purchasing its footwear. For the most part, the size charts below should apply to the Sorel boots range. Wide Size Options The title of this segment is slightly misleading. Calf Sizing Hunter boots sizing and some other brands include calf size in its charts. How to Measure Your Calves In our experience examining an array of boots, most will fit inch calves for women, inch for men, give or take a little each side.

To find out if you fall close to that statistic, you can measure your calves. Instead: Acquire a length of non-elasticated string or an old shoelace. Wrap this around your calf and tie it off. Snip the string at the knot. Measure the length up to the knot. Customer Consensus Now that you know the sizes and the exact foot measurements, you can get down to shopping… right?

How to Measure Your Feet Get a sheet of paper and use a ruler to draw a straight line, edge to edge. Place the paper on a flat surface like tiles or wooden flooring. Line up one edge of the paper with a vertical wall. Step on the paper with your heel against the wall. Mark the position of your longest toe. Repeat with your other foot. There is no doubt, however, that these are among the worst fitting boots in this review.

The problem is that they are gigantic, both in the fit inside the boot, and the design of the boot in general. Even with a very thick sock on, there is so much foot slop and movement inside this boot that we would consider sizing down. No amount of cranking the laces down is going to cinch up this boot to make it feel snug. The room on the inside isn't the only problem, the whole boot is just huge.

We also can't get over how heavy they are. At 5 lbs. The sloppy fit, large design, and hefty weight guarantee that this is not a boot we would want to spend any time hiking around in. Limited to shoveling, chopping wood and running errands, this is a niche boot model. For a boot that has laces and needs to be tied, this one is fairly simple. The very large opening of the boot makes it very easy to slip the foot into, and we admit that on a few cold mornings we were happy to just leave the laces untied while stepping outside with the dog for the morning routine.

The large metal grommets allow the laces to slip through very easily, and these boots cinch tight no problem with one pull. Of course, you still need to tie the laces, but that isn't difficult. In general, these boots are slightly easier to get on than other Pac Boots, and are easier than virtually all of the other boots that have laces.

The Caribou features a proprietary rubber compound called Aerotrac, and the sole pattern is made up of small dot-shaped lugs that look more like golf cleats than the burly soles we are accustomed to. The low profile lugs perform best when on slippery surfaces such as icy sidewalks, where increased surface area make the boot grippier. For most other circumstances, however, traction is not one of these boot's strongest traits. We found that it is nowhere near as good as the boots with the grippiest winter rubber compounds.

While it is predictably a bit slippery on ice all of the boots tested struggle on ice , what surprised us is how it seemed to perform worse than most on snow and packed snow. We would have to blame this on the roundness of the lugs, which to us doesn't make a lot of sense, as sharp edges that bite into snow seem to be the best designs. This boot retails for about average for the contenders in this review.

It is a bit more limited than some of the other boots at this price, and we already voiced concerns about the durability of the rubber used in the lowers, although we repeat that we didn't encounter that problem ourselves.

Also worth pointing out is that the other Pac boots scored comparably in most of our tests, and cost about half as much. So while we wouldn't go nearly so far as not to recommend this boot, we would be happier if we managed to find it on sale. The Sorel Caribou has been around for the past 50 years and is many people's definition of a snow boot. The design concept is solid, and while we feel that it is not a suitable candidate for long winter hikes, it is an overall good winter boot that provides great warmth, weather resistance and is easy to use.

It will fit the needs of many people looking for a quality boot to see them through the winter and with a classic style. GearLab is founded on the principle of honest, objective, reviews.

Comfort 3 Rated 3 stars out of 5. It's extremely hard to buy Sorel boots- the sizing is totally inconistent. I have a pair of these boots in my normal size 8 but they're way too big. So, Zappos had them on sale and I bought both 7 and 7. BOTH were way too small! I returned them for an 8 and I'm not sure I'm going to keep these either.

With a thick sock, they feel snug. I won't go up to an 8. Two weeks ago I tried a different Sorel model and had the exact same trouble- the sizing was off and ended up sending two pairs back! Shopping for Sorels makes my head spin! They need to get their sizing on track. Note: the photo attached is the exact same size Caribou by Sorel- womens 8. Overall 4 Rated 4 stars out of 5.

This is a great boot. It's very comfortable. It's very clunky. I'm usually between a size 8 and 9. I purchased a size 9 - they are big with the lining in. I feel as though if I had purchased the 8 - they would have been too small to wear with thick socks and the lining. Without the lining, the size 8 would have been perfect. In conclusion - these need to be made in half sizes. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , January 27, My husband has a pair of Sorel's, that I always "borrowed" when I had to go help shovel; they were more comfortable than my snow boots another brand.

I finally decided to purchase a pair of Sorel's for myself, and after a nice little snow storm, and lots of shoveling, I am very pleased with my purchase. They are comfortable to walk in, provide good traction, and kept my feet warm and dry. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , February 9, Style 4 Rated 4 stars out of 5. These boots are an investment, but well worth it. They keep your feet warm and dry all day, and they have great traction. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , June 1, Style 2 Rated 2 stars out of 5.

Let's face it - the northeast has had its worst winter in more than a decade. I ordered these boots for slogging through snow and slush, over ice, and wading through the resulting puddles brought by the occasional thaw.

They are perfect--my feet have stayed warm and dry. Mind you, each of them weighs as much as a small child, and they are less than beautiful, but they've been a lifesaver this winter. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , March 3, I love my Sorel's. I have three pair from zappos! Tina S, Zappos Customer , February 8, I have had these boot for about years.

I only really wear them during snowy days, so I estimate I have worn them about 20 times and now there is a 1. The crack goes through and, of course, render the boots not waterproof and pretty worthless. I really have not worn these boots enough for this problem to happen.

Reading other reviews this seems to be an issue with many others too. Ottoscrackedboots , March 22, Plural because three pairs of boots have taken me through three decades. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , December 25, Cozy boots - While these may not be the most fashionable of routes for snow boots they are definitely the more practical route.

These boots keep my feet totally warm, have good traction and the fun green color spunks them up a bit. I feel like I've bought the snow boots I'll have for the rest of my life! Anonymous, Zappos Customer , December 20, Sorel Caribou boots - These were the biggest and ugliest boots of the three pairs that I ordered, and I have to say that they look like boats on my feet, but they are comfortable and warm and during the recent blizzard in NYC this past weekend, they were the perfect boots to have to plow through the drifts.

I'm thinking of ordering them in another color as well. In terms of the ease of ordering, the speed of the shipment, and the ease of returns including printing out UPS labels , you can't beat Zappos! Anonymous, Zappos Customer , January 25, Very comfortable and kept my feet completely dry for New York's first snowstorm of Anonymous, Zappos Customer , January 24, They are really warm and soft inside.

And they're not heavy at all. I thought they might be too short but when you put them on they are great. I don't want to take them off and can't wait until it snows or rains really hard. All I can say is, good job Zappos! Wonderful customer service, quick shipments, and great selections!

These boots fit real comfortable on my foot. The boot leaves room for thick socks for the winter months. The boots are really warm and waterproof so you don't have to worry about the snow. I highly recommend them for anybody who wants a real winter boot.

The ultimate snow boot - Very comfortable boot. Stylish too, in it's own way. Definitely feels at least one-half size larger than marked. I can occassionally wear a size 9, and the 8 fit me perfectly.

As always, Zappos' service is superb. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , December 15, Sorel Caribou - Great boots, perfect for winter in new york.

Anonymous, Zappos Customer , November 15, Sorel Caribou Review - I was completely satisfied when I received my boots. They fit extremely well and were as comfortable as they look. I would recommend this boot to anyone that gets cold feet very easily and has to walk through the snow.
